Odo for iPhone
Odo tells you what the light on your dashboard means, then keeps the receipts for everything you spend on the car. If something here does not answer your question, email me — a real person reads it.
I aim to reply within two working days. It helps if you say which iPhone you have and which version of iOS it is running — you will find both in Settings → General → About.
Open the Lights tab and describe what you can see. You do not need the technical name — searching for "oil can", "kettle", "exclamation mark in a horseshoe" or "engine" will find it. You can also just scroll the list; the most serious lights sort to the top.
Red — stop as soon as it is safe to do so. Something is wrong that can damage the car or hurt you.
Amber — get it looked at soon. Usually safe to keep driving in the short term, and each light in the app says whether that is true for that specific fault.
Green or blue — information only. Something is switched on, not broken.
Yes. The whole library is built into the app. It works in an underground car park, on a hard shoulder with no bars, and on a phone in aeroplane mode.
Odo is a reference guide, not a mechanic. It explains what a symbol generally means on most cars. It cannot see your engine, and it does not replace your handbook or a qualified opinion. If a red light is on, or you are in any doubt about whether the car is safe, stop and call someone qualified.
Garage tab → add a vehicle → enter the make, model and current mileage. You can add more than one; every record you create belongs to whichever vehicle is selected.
From the mileage and litres on consecutive fill-ups, so the first entry for a car gives you a record but not yet a figure — the second one gives you both. For the numbers to mean anything, fill the tank fully each time and log it each time.
Yes, and you should before selling the car or changing phone. Open a vehicle, choose Export, and iOS will ask where to send it. A documented service history is worth real money at resale.
Odo stores everything on the phone and nothing on a server, so when iOS deletes the app it deletes the data with it. If you had an iPhone backup running from before the deletion, restoring that backup brings it back. Otherwise it cannot be recovered — there is no copy on our side to send you, because we never had one.
Unlimited vehicles, unlimited records, reminders, and PDF export of a full service history. The warning-light library is free and always will be — that is the part you need at the side of the road, and putting it behind a paywall would be indefensible.
On your iPhone open Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions, then Odo, then Cancel Subscription. You can also use this direct link. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Plus until the period you have already paid for runs out.
Open the subscription screen in Odo and tap Restore Purchases. That asks Apple whether this Apple Account already owns Plus. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it on — this is the usual cause, especially on a family device. If it still does not appear, email me.
Apple handles all App Store payments, so refunds go through Apple rather than me — I have no ability to issue one. Use reportaproblem.apple.com. Tell me too if something went wrong, so I can fix whatever caused it.
